Executive Director - Amanda Greenawalt

Amanda Greenawalt joined Temple Beth Israel in July of 2023 as its Executive Director. With an illustrious career of strengthening Jewish communal life spanning more than 15 years, Amanda has dedicated herself to serving the Jewish community, assuming pivotal roles such as the Director of Congregational Engagement at Temple Beth-El of Great Neck, the Director of Youth Engagement at Temple Beth El of Huntington, and, most recently, as Advancement Director at B'nai Jeshurun on Manhattan's Upper West Side. She enjoys partnering with community members while sharing her passion for membership, development, engagement, and programming for adolescents and emerging adults.

Amanda holds Associate and Bachelor's degrees from SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology in Advertising and Marketing Communications and is a graduate of the third cohort of Hebrew Union College’s Certificate in Jewish Education and the fourth cohort of UJA's Ruskay Institute for Jewish Professional Leadership. Currently, she serves as Vice President of Programming for the ATID North American (Advancing Temple's Institutional Development) board in addition to her role as Vice President of Fundraising for her local PTA. She previously held positions in event planning, advertising promotion, and marketing. Amanda is a Long Island native, Mets fan, and lives in Port Washington with her husband Patrick, son Ari, and rescue dog Olive.

Office Manager - Julie Cheevers

Julie is the  first friendly face that will greet you when you enter the Main Office. Whether you are inquiring about a yahrzeit, dropping off a check or asking to create a flyer, Julie is the contact. Julie came aboard in September of 2014 and is an integral member of the TBI team.  Julie is responsible for our weekly e-blast and monthly news letter.  She is the key computer person (and our tech wizard) always solving a glitch or creating a web page. Julie is a graduate of New York University with a BA in Music Business.  She had a long career as a make-up artist working with many fashion greats.  When not at TBI, Julie enjoys playing guitar, roller skating, and spending time with friends, her husband Stephen, her two boys Bram and Gavin and their beautiful Siamese cat Reishi.

​Preschool Director - Dana Erdheim

Dana is delighted to be a part of TBI. She brings over 19 years of experience in early childhood education. She taught at Temple Israel ECLC (early childhood learning center) in New York City, was the Director of Early Childhood at Kidville, NY and Sid Jacobson JCC in East Hills, NY.  Most recently she was the Vice President of Youth and Family, overseeing the Sid Jacobson JCC programs related to early childhood education, camps, afterschool youth and teens. 
Dana is truly passionate about early childhood education working with the children, their families and teachers to provide a warm and loving community where all can be successful. Dana leads with vision and purpose.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Psychology from Syracuse University and her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College. 
When not at TBI, Dana enjoys spending time with friends, her husband Joshua and her two boys Hudson and Logan.

Director Of Education and Engagement - Anya Morgulis

Anya received her Masters’ Degree in Jewish Education from the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education at The Jewish Theological Seminary of America.  She also spent more than two years studying at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, Israel.  Her time there included roles as a Fellow, a Jewish educator for the community in Istanbul, Turkey, and as a liason between Pardes and The Nachshon Project.

Prior to her graduate work, Anya served for four years as Director of Engagement at the Hillel at Virginia Tech where she supervised student leaders, organized fundraisers, recruited and trained staff, planned and executed multiple educational and engagement programs, and increased overall participation.

Anya loves to visit her family in Arizona when she has the chance, or chatting about growing up in Virginia and her alma mater, Virginia Tech- Go Hokies!
