FAQ

We're new...whether you are new to TBI or Just Checking us Out below is some basic Info

Why should I join TBI?

We offer a meaningful and enduring connection to Judiasm. Once a member you have the availability of our clergy at life-cycle events and for counseling, tickets for High Holy Days, educational and spiritual opportunities for the entire family, tuition discounts to our Preschool, and notifications of upcoming events and programs.  More important by becoming a member of TBI, you become part of a larger Kehillah (community) where you will meet new people and make new friends.  Ours is a community that is always there for you during life's ups and downs.

What are the costs of membership?

Synagogues just like your own household have expenses. We operate under a budget so we can provide a wealth of programs, opportunities and activities. We appreciate each family's circumstance and no one is turned away for financial reasons. We will meet with you confidentially to come up with a plan to commensurate with your ability to pay.

How do I Join?

It’s easy. Contact our VP Membership (membership@tbiport.org) who will answer all your questions, arrange for you to meet our clergy or school directors and setup a time for a building tour.  We will ask you to complete an application so we can help connect you to the niche at TBI that will make the people and activities most meaningful for you. We encourage you to join us for a service, event, special dinner or just a sit down with like-minded members.

How many member households are there at TBI?

TBI is the center of Jewish activity for more than 250 member households. Our membership spans a broad spectrum of ages, professions, interests and backgrounds.

Do I receive High Holiday Tickets with My Membership?

Yes. Of course! Each member household receives tickets for those adults living in the household. Children 26 years of age and under also receive free High Holiday tickets.

What if I am an Interfaith or LGBT family?

You’ve come to a welcoming place. If you have chosen to build a Jewish life in the context of your personal or family identity we are here to celebrate and support you. We aim to make TBI your second home.
